SlugMenu — Terms of Use
Last updated: September 14, 2026
These terms cover your use of SlugMenu, an iOS app for UC Santa Cruz dining hall and cafe menus, hours, and nutrition information. By using the app, you agree to them. See also our Privacy Policy, which covers how your data is handled.
UCSC's data, not ours
Menu, hours, nutrition, and allergen information in SlugMenu comes from public UC Santa Cruz websites. We republish it, but we don't create it, and we can't guarantee it's accurate, complete, or up to date. Dining halls change menus, run out of items, and adjust hours without notice, and UCSC's own listings sometimes lag behind what's actually being served. SlugMenu also caches this data on your device for up to 7 days so it still works offline — which means what you see in the app can be even further behind than what UCSC currently has posted.
Allergen and dietary information — please read this one
SlugMenu can hide dishes for you based on allergen and dietary tags scraped from UCSC's published menus. Those tags reflect what UCSC has posted about a dish as normally prepared. They do not account for kitchen substitutions, cross-contact, ingredient swaps, or last-minute changes — dining staff make these all the time, and the app has no way to know when they happen.
If you have a serious food allergy or a medical dietary restriction, do not rely on SlugMenu by itself. Always confirm with dining hall staff before eating anything. SlugMenu is a convenience tool for browsing menus. It is not a medical, dietary, or nutritional advice tool, and it is not a substitute for checking with the people serving your food.
Not affiliated with UC Santa Cruz
SlugMenu is an independent, unofficial app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by UC Santa Cruz. "UC Santa Cruz," "UCSC," and any related names, logos, and marks belong to their respective owners and are used here only to describe what the app does.
No warranty
SlugMenu is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to whether it is accurate, uninterrupted, or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for damages arising from your use of the app or your reliance on the information in it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app changes. If we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
